Celebrated dirt track race car driver Josh Jackson has triumphed beyond greater hardships than most people will ever know.

After sustaining a near-fatal brain injury as the result of a mid-race accident, Josh found himself navigating a complex road to recovery. Intensive, real-world rehabilitation at Craig Hospital and QLI set the stage for lifelong growth, and a partnership with Council Bluffs-based go-karting facility Joe’s Karting laid the groundwork for a potential return to racing.

Now, only a few years after what could have been the end of his career – and his life – Josh is once again a familiar face in the winner’s circle, every bit as brave, as bold, as dominant, every bit as hopeful his talent translates into a future NASCAR career.

In this documentary from NBC SportsDale Earnhardt Jr. narrates Josh’s incredible story in the world of grassroots racing.

One of many stories covered in this spectacular look at a cherished American pastime, Josh’s segment begins just before the 25-minute mark.
